2009 QuarkNet Workshop
July 20-23, 2009
CERN is in the news! Particle physics will soon be on the front page and words like quarks, leptons, neutrinos, muons, and bosons will be capturing the interests of some of our students and the general public. Knowing this, how and when do we teach it to our students?
If you would like to try to answer this question and the multitude more that get raised by the study of particle physics, then we invite you to apply for a workshop in the spring and summer of 2009.

QuarkNet at the University of Minnesota is offering a five day workshop for high school physics and physical science teachers. Participants will receive:
- hands-on experiences in particle physics educational activities
- $600 stipend
- current information on particle physics research
- presentations by particle physicists
- visits to world class particle physics research laboratories
- 35 hours of continuing education credits
- the option of graduate credits at a reduced cost.
The workshop will be conducted in the Tate Lab of Physics on the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota from July 20--23. Additionally we will meet for a late afternoon/early evening on Thursday, May 21.
We hope to see you this summer! If you are interested, please follow the link to the application. Applications will be accepted beginning February 16, 2009 and will close when all the slots are filled and not later than April 10, 2009. Feel free to print the application, fill it out and mail it in. Copies may also be made for interested colleagues. Questions and mailings can be directed to:
